Insane In The Membrane

In the privacy of his own home, Mr. Simba decides to go insane once in a while. He is always very dignified and composed at the Dog Park. He appears as though he is judging us all but when he gets home he let's go of all his uptight ways and goes nuts!

Floridian Dog

Simba and Buddha's cousin Coco (a 3.5 pound Pomeranian) will be moving back to our area. It gets very cold and I have heard that it will be a very difficult winter. Since she is tiny and since I am learning to sew, I thought it would be cool to sew her a little winter coat. I used my little Siberian Husky stuffed animal as a model since Coco has not moved here yet.

Certainly not perfect but I think it will do the trick!

Mad Men: Doggy Style!

I can show you the world...
I'm sexy and I know it!
We've got swagger.
I better be getting a treat for this.
 Stupid humans...
In truth, I am a handsome devil.
I don't like you very much right now...

Sewing for Organization

I've been looking for simple projects since I bought a basic sewing machine a few days ago. I aspire to be able to sew things like doggy Halloween costumes one day, maybe even for this upcoming Halloween? The point is, I suck at sewing but am trying to learn! I went to Home Depot and bought drop cloth for another project. I like the color because it is a khaki and can be used in a sewing machine. I had an easy sewing idea and that was to create a storage system for all the grooming products that I use on the pups. There are SO many brushes laying around! Below are pictures of the idea that I had. It reminds me of a painter's brush holder but certainly not as nice. ;-)

A little rough around the edges but it does the trick!

Trepidation

I have heard many stories recently about robberies, thefts and violent acts by desperate people. This economy certainly makes a lot of people desperate and it also makes the rest of us a little nervous. I'm not one to shy away from doing something that I enjoy doing. It might be reckless or stupid but there are few things that make me happy and walking at night is one of those things. A few nights ago I took the dogs for a late night romp outside. I couldn't sleep so I figured the fresh air couldn't hurt. I was walking in a thoughtful haze, enough of a haze that is not recommended when walking so late. I'm paranoid. I look and listen to make sure that no one is following me. I have real reasons for such paranoia. First, my home was broken into several years ago and I was fortunate enough not to have been home at the time. I had broken my regular routine. Had I not done so, well who knows what would have happened. The police reassuringly told me that because nothing but a special token was stolen that the perpetrators were waiting specifically for me. GREAT. The can make anyone paranoid forevermore!

So as I was walking with the pups, I noticed that the world was still and silent. That is actually the beauty of a late night. I avoided the areas were there were no lights and the places that would not allow for escape if such a thing were to ever become a necessity. Simba typically gives a warning bark at night if something or someone unexpected is around. Buddha merely looks menacing but I highly doubt he would protect me in case of emergency. While on the walk, I noticed a solitary figure and so did Simba. He started his typical barking and the person left. I have no way of knowing what that person was doing but it made me wonder if Simba's barking was a good thing or a bad thing. On one hand I could try to evade a potential attacker before they notice me if Simba did not make a sound. On the other hand, maybe his bark sounds scary enough that a potential attacker would not want to bother?

Is it sad that these thoughts go through my mind? Sure. Sadly, this is the reality.
Just last week, my friends sister was robbed at gun point by masked men. She was lucky to walk away with her life. The world changes but it still stays the same.

Shiba Inu, Siberian Husky Meet Deer

Buddha loves chasing after squirrels and Simba prefers birds. Neither one of them was expecting to see an animal THIS big! I couldn't risk letting them out of the car because they would have probably given chase. In fact, I have heard that the deer in this area have been putting up a fight against dogs by chasing back and stomping on them! Scary stuff!

Blazing Sun

It was a scorcher but we decided to meet with some friends and go to a baseball field. The baseball field is the second best outdoor facility that I have been to with the dogs. It's a huge space for them to run in and it is completely fenced in, which is important when you have Shibas and Huskies. These pups ran after the ball and the Frisbee for a while and reveled in their freedom.
Buddha soaks his front paws in water in order to cool off. He does this at the dog park all the time but luckily doesn't need to do it at home. We shared a lot of water this day but it was just not enough to keep everyone cool. But hey it was a fun day!
