He was a little worried at first but once he got into the water he swam like it was second nature. He was absolutely in love with the water. I was surprised at how beautifully he was gliding through the water. Buddha was so graceful in the water! He made momma proud!

A small visitor

The month of July spawned a long visit from my family. They brought with them their teacup Pomeranian. Her name is Coco and she is the only female pup in the family. She extremely tiny but has a big attitude! She tried to play with Simba and Buddha but was simultaneously afraid of them. We instantly adored her because she would hide under every nook and cranny and sleep. Not only that but she cuddled all the time! Funny thing is that she looks just like her owner! It looks like she has highlights and she is always dressed up. Coco Chanel!

A scare

I have learned about dogs since Simba and Buddha came into my life. Shiba Inus are typically very precise, clean, dainty and careful. Siberian Husky's are playful, hyper, wreckless and wild. My boys exhibit these personalities to the max. Buddha has not even turned a year old and already he was bitten by a dog and had to go in for emergency surgery. That nearly gave me a heart attack but he made it and life continued. However, over the months he has collided at full speed with other dogs, bloodied himself, and choked himself in a vain attempt to catch squirrels. This time I noticed a bump growing on his inner eyelid. At first it was nothing but after a few short weeks I realized that it was time to get it checked out. The vet said that it could be anything but that the best thing to do would be to surgically remove it. Before the surgery, I tried everything I could to soothe the bump, hoping that it was only irritation. I even placed a warm tea bag on it and he never complained once! Sadly, that did not work. Luckily, the surgery did work!! The biopsy showed no signs of cancer and Buddha returned to normal two weeks after the surgery.

Simba's 1st Birthday!

The type of crazy dog parent that I am has led me to host a birthday party for my oldest son. Just a few of his closest friends and family, no big deal! I did order a special cake from a bakery in California and I made sure that he had plenty of gifts. We all had a great time except for the fact that all the dogs wanted to mark their territory in my house. Gross.

Themes

At this time I have come up with the theme of my wedding. It is going to be spiritual and each table will be named after a different stone. Onyx, sapphire, amethyst, etc. The colors will be purple and magenta and the whole affair will be unique and splendid. Did I mention that I ordered a grooms cake that is supposed to be half Bobba Fett and half R2D2? YES! He is going to go nuts! So everything has fallen into place. The wedding won't be too girly but it will be whimsical. Since our venue is over the top chic (and might I say EXPENSIVE) we went with a theme that would make the place feel light and still capture the beauty of the space.

This month we attended a friends wedding and her theme was very colorful! There were splashes of orange everywhere and she came up with a clever way to indicate who was a vegetarian. A paw print on the back of the name card. I loved it so much that I took several pictures. But the thing that I loved the most about the wedding was the genuine happiness and love. I have been to a lot of weddings that were all about showing off and being over the top. This wedding was beautiful, real and the love was all around us.

Rapture party

We the sinners decided to have a party in celebration of the impending rapture. It seemed like a good idea at the time. Everyone who attended had to dress as one of the 7 deadly sins. I was greed, the fiance was pride, Simba was wrath and Buddha was gluttony. Fitting! Here are a few pics of the boys and their Rapture pride.
