Fast Friends

Simba loves to play with Caesar. They are very similar in size and when they get in the mood for a rumble, it's ON! They chase one another around and around. Caesar will bark at Simba and they will continue the chase for several minutes. I love seeing how care free Simba is when he plays. It is rare that he finds a dog that he likes to play with these days so Caesar joining the pack was great for all of us.

Of course, it wasn't easy to introduce Caesar to our pack. Simba is set in his way and he likes to growl and bark at other dogs. We had to hire a very special trainer to help us, help me, to gain control. Now, these guys cuddle, play and share treats. We are all so happy.

Christmas Bling

These dogs are truly spoiled. My guys received a whole bunch of toys, treats and chews. Coco the tiny Pomeranian is the only girl of the bunch so she naturally received clothing and accessories. Although, since she is a Floridian dog she truly needs warm coats because she will freeze in this Northeast weather without them! Onix is extremely picky with treats so his gifts were squeaky toys. I feel as though the dogs were granted everything that they could ever want from Santa.
The humans had a fun time opening gifts too but I personally enjoyed handing the gifts out. I didn't need anything this year other than the warmth of the fireplace and my family. I had both of these things this Christmas. I hope that this feeling will carry on through the new year.

Homemade Yum Yums!

I decided to make dog treats for the boys. I tried this one time before with pumpkin but it did not turn out too good. These treats include sweet potato, oatmeal, flour and one egg. I don't really bake or cook or do anything in this way because I always end up making a mistake and ruining the food. This time around, I mixed all the ingredients but forgot one important thing...I don't own a rolling pin. Yikes. So I mixed all the ingredients together and then I had a flour disaster. When I was mixing everything together, the flour went flying out of the bowl. Eventually, I rolled the ingredients in an unconventional way and tried to use a cookie cutter to make the treats pretty. Yea...that did NOT work. The treats were just way too sticky and could not form a shape. It took forty minutes for them to bake and even though they are not nice looking...the dogs LOVE them!! I had to make them both sit and wait but they totally enjoyed every morsel and I can't wait to make more. Except this time I will have a rolling pin and figure out why the paste was so sticky!

Puppy Love

The pups are always eager to see us when we return after a long day of work. It seems that even the special frozen treats that I make for them every night do not hold their interest for too long. The Dog Whisperer would not be happy because upon entering the doorway, my pups jump up on me. Buddha howls while Simba flattens his ears and make funny noises. Simba then proceeds to bite at my clothes. They act as though they have been alone for weeks without food or water. Quite the contrary! I do everything I can to make their day by day experience a pleasant one. I concoct elaborate treats, I take them to the dog park so that they can run, I give them toys to keep them entertained, leave the TV on for good doggy movies and even leave the windows open so that they can hear the outside world.

Alas, the pups miss their pack at the end of the day. I'm sure that being alone in a house all day is worse than going to work all day.... I take that back. They can have my job and I will have theirs! ;-)

A Buddha birthday!

Then my Buddha baby turned 1! I decided not to throw a doggy party this time around because cleaning up after that many dogs was not exactly fun. They always say that the first child is the most spoiled but I promised myself that I would buy Buddha the same type of cake that I got for Simba. Buddha baby was intent on eating the whole cake and was far more interested in all the attention that he received on his birthday. He is truly a happy husky!
